One Must Fall Wiki

One Must Fall: Battlegrounds is a fighting game for Microsoft Windows and a direct sequel to One Must Fall: 2097. It was developed by Diversions Entertainment and co-published in December 2003 by Diversions Publishing and Trisynergy Inc.

Story[]

After the success of the World Championship Tournament in 2097, mankind has continued to cheer and applaud robot arena combat 20 years later. The newest generation of pilots are faster, stronger, and more mentally focused than any competitors in recorded history. Hardened veterans will also challenge the progress of anyone who attempts to ascend to the rank of undisputed champion. Remember - Before You Can Rise, One Must Fall.

Gameplay[]

One Must Fall: Battlegrounds ditches the 2D, one-on-one system from the previous game and utilizes full 3D graphics for a over-the-shoulder, behind the character style arena fighting system. Instead of two players facing off in a small space, it features up to 16 players in large arenas, fighting in team battles or all-out brawls. Players choose which HAR (Human Assisted Robot) they wish to use, as well as a pilot to control it. Each pilot has different stats which affect how strong, fast, focused, or how much damage each robot can take. This, combined with the different attacks for each HAR, make up most of the variety in the game. One Must Fall: Battlegrounds also has a unique combo system that allows for a large variety of moves to be strung together. The game also incorporates "hazards" into the arenas, such as fireball launchers, electrically charged walls, and minefields.
